Cherri McConnell JP - Marriage Celebrant

Weddings

Now that you have decided to have a wedding ceremony at your chosen location, it will give you the freedom of choice to reflect your feelings, beliefs and personality into your service.

I can offer you a sample manual to select your wedding ceremony from, but don’t be afraid if you want to write your own vows, add your own verses, readings, music or cultural symbols so that the service is a reflection of the way you are together. I will also give you a questionnaire to do so I can collect information about you both and add it in the service as a ‘Love Story’. Of course there are legal obligations within the wedding ceremony, I will go through these with you when you meet with me.

I am here to advise you on other aspects of your wedding day and welcome any enquiries you may have so that your wedding ceremony is everything you want and more.

My services include:

  • Obligation free meetings with me
  • Provide all legal documents to be signed
  • Applying for your marriage certificate with Births, Deaths & Marriages after you are married (at a cost to you)
  • Provide a wireless PA system and an assistant to help with music
  • I can offer pens for signing the register
  • Hold an onsite rehearsal approximately 2 weeks before your ceremony
  • I am here to help you throughout the whole process with a guaranteed smile on my face

What are the Legal Obligations?

Both parties must be over 18 years of age

To lodge The Notice of Intended Marriage with me you will need:

  • Original Birth Certificates
  • Passport
  • A Decree Absolute, if you are divorced from a previous marriage
  • If either of you are under 18, your parent’s consent & an order from a magistrate
  • If you are previously widowed, a death certificate
  • A statutory declaration if you were born overseas & have lost your documentation
  • Provide 2 witnesses over the age of 18 years (for wedding day)

To be married within Australia, the Notice of Intended Marriage has to be lodged one month before you are married i.e. if you put the notice in on 28th June you can be legally married on 28th July. You can lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage up to 18 months before your wedding date.

The Notice of Intended Marriage will be drawn up by me and kept in my files until the day you are married – it will then be sent to Births, Deaths & Marriages along with the other documents signed and witnessed on your wedding day.

Nothing can come close to the sheer joy I feel in marrying my best friend.
